Wondering if there would be enough interest in going in together to order a beef.
We just recently ordered a full beef. If there is enough interest we would call the same guy that we just went through and order another. Below is an approximate cost and what you get. It all depends on how you want things cut, but this is how we usually get it.
Because the beef are grain fed, the approximate cost for a half a beef was about $950. We figured that this is about what you get for half a beef:
80 (1lb pks) hamburger
16 (approx) variety of roasts
7 sirloin steaks
7 soup bones
13 Round steaks
4 Sirloin tip steak
5 pks stew meat
8 T-Bone steaks
7 pks short ribs
7 Rib eye Steaks
4 pks liver (optional)
All of the amounts are approximate. The beef we got was about 866 pounds hanging weight. By the time they cut it and wrapped, it cost about $2.36 per lb, average. Pretty good price for the roasts and steak.
We usually split a beef with someone else and the half a beef lasts our family a long time because we aren't really big beef eaters. We felt like we needed more this time because our family has grown and our married children come 'shopping' and mom and dad's.
We would normally go through Blaine's brother to get our beef, but he hasn't been doing well enough to raise his own, but he was the one that sent us to this guy. Blaine's brother is also very picky about where he gets the cut and wrap done......he only goes through one that is clean and takes good care of the meat. Between that and the fact that I know the beef wasn't fed anything other than the grain and good stuff, it makes it worth it to me to order this way.
Let me know if you might be interested in going in with someone else and I will keep track of who has shown interest in our beef. We would be happy to either give you the guys name and phone number, or Blaine could call and order another.
